10 day hiatus

Summary of today in 3 doughnuts: J.Co. Singapore -
1. Tiramisu – top was good, the filling was too marshmellowy fluff like to really eat again.
2. Nut something- like whipped PB inside. I’ll find the official name for you sometime.
3. Lady Thai Tea Donut – by far the most original I’ve tried. It was not bad. Interesting. hehe
Bright and early in the morning we leave for Kota Kinabalu (KK). I will have little or no access to internet for the first time in years (ok, Paris wi-fi isn’t that great either). I have a plan, though, so don’t be worried about me. I plan to survive on:
-kalamansi juice (kalamansi is like a very little lime)
-teh tarik (literally, tea that’s pulled – they pour the tea from one little pot to another in such a fashion that it looks pulled out)
-roti bom (like roti prata, but the place we go makes it with egg and drizzles honey around the edges; I just read that over and it sounds rather unappetizing, but when I sit in front of the plate, I probably put Pavlov’s dogs to shame. hehe. oh, corny psychology jokes).
-soto ayam (I liken this too a traditional Malay version of chicken noodle soup.
- my grandma’s delicious creations, namely some locally caught fish and jungle fern veggies. oh and plenty of fresh tropical fruit.
- reading le Bible in French
- a couple of other reads including To Be Told and Three Cups of Tea.
In the meantime, it’s your turn to write, friends. I anticipate many a letter, message, wall post, comment or voice mail upon my return.
